School Volunteer Opportunity During Polk County Agri-Fest, March 9-13 or March 16-20

Published on Jan 21, 2020

Polk County employees are invited to spend a morning helping 4th grade students learn about our area’s diverse agriculture industry. Each day for 10 days, approximately 600 students will visit the Polk County Agricultural Center (W.H. Stuart Center) and visit learning stations for Citrus, Beef Cattle, Phosphate, Florida Farms, Horticulture, and Forestry. Volunteers assist as group leaders, station helpers, and citrus activity assistants.

Choose one or more days during the two-week period to volunteer from 9:00 a.m. to noon. A volunteer orientation will be on Thursday, March 7 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Extension Service division, 1702 U.S. Highway 17 South. Employees who don’t have a recent background screening on file with HR will need to supply date of birth to perform a basic screening at no cost to the employee.

To volunteer, please contact Nicole Walker, Extension Service Division, at 863-519-1045, or naw@ufl.edu. Or, register online at www.pcfb.org (Polk County Farm Bureau).
